Student Recital: Jazz Drums

This recital features fourth-year music student and drummer, Davis O’Donnell, in a live-streamed performance, together with his band the Davis O’Donnell Trio.

Davis O’Donnell is a drummer, composer and fourth-year recipient of the Oscar Peterson Scholarship MTCU at York University. Currently in his fourth- year undergraduate degree in jazz performance Davis has studied with world-renowned jazz musicians Barry Romberg, Anthony Michelli, Lorne Lofsky, Kevin Turcotte, and Al Henderson. His fourth-year recital is comprised completely of original songs composed during his time as an undergrad student at York where he became increasingly interested in composition. The recital features “Aquarelles,” a recorded work featured on Jazz FM’s Jazzology series, as well as “When My Day Is Done,” a ballad which Davis composed based on a poem written by his late grandfather. Davis strives to continue performing, composing and recording in the years to come.
